Feature Limitations

  • Traffic policies containing redirection cannot be applied in the outbound direction.
  • Packets forwarded at Layer 2 are redirected to an interface. Packets forwarded at Layer 3 and packets forwarded in unicast mode to a VXLAN tunnel are redirected to the next hop.
  • For CE6870EI and CE6875EI switches, the action of redirecting packets to an observing interface group is valid for only Layer 2 packets.
  • Applying a traffic policy containing redirection to the CPU may affect the system performance. Exercise caution when you apply a traffic policy containing redirection to the CPU.
  • The CE6810LI cannot redirect Layer 3 packets to the outbound interface that can be a physical interface or an Eth-Trunk.
  • For CE6870EI and CE6875EI switches, when a traffic policy containing redirection is applied to a Layer 2 Ethernet interface, the Layer 2 Ethernet interface can only redirect Layer 2 packets. When a traffic policy containing redirection is applied to a VLANIF interface, the VLANIF interface can redirect both Layer 2 and Layer 3 packets. A traffic policy containing redirection can be applied to a Layer 3 physical interface, but does not take effect.

  • For CE6870EI and CE6875EI switches, on the device at the VXLAN tunnel egress, all VXLAN packets cannot be redirected to interfaces.

  • For CE switches excluding CE6870EI and CE6875EI switches, in a Super Virtual Fabric (SVF) of fixed switches, the inbound interface of packets cannot be the redirect-to interface. You can run the port bridge enable command on the redirect-to interface to enable the port bridge function so that the interface can forward packets with the same source and destination addresses.
  • On other models excluding the CE6870EI and CE6875EI, when a traffic policy that defines redirection to a specified interface is applied to a Layer 3 main interface, the redirect-to-interface must be the Layer 3 main interface. On the CE6855HI, CE6856HI, CE6857EI, CE6865EI, CE8861EI, CE8868EI, and CE7855EI, a traffic policy that defines redirection to a specified interface cannot be configured on a Layer 3 main interface.
