Application Scenarios for SFCs

Application Scenarios for SFCs

In addition to SFC deployment in single-node mode, the switch can cooperate with the Agile Controller-DCN to implement SFC. The Agile Controller orchestrates SFs, configures SFPs, and delivers the SFP configuration to the SC and SFFs through NETCONF interfaces. Currently, CE switches support only SFC deployment in single-node mode.

  • When servers of different security levels need to communicate with each other, configure east-west traffic to pass through SFs in a resource pool (marked in green solid lines) for security protection. In this way, services can be processed in a topology-irrelevant, flexible, simple, efficient, and secure manner.

  • Security protection between external networks and data center networks is the core for network security. SFC flexibly orchestrates external north-south traffic on different SFs (marked in orange solid lines) to implement various functions such as NAT and security filtering.
