Configuring iSCSI in Windows
- Check that related software has been installed in the host system.
The iSCSI initiator comes with Windows Server 2012 R2 or later. For OS earlier than Windows Server 2012 R2, download and install the iSCSI initiator installation package based on the OS version, as shown in Figure 4-297.
You are advised to install Windows iSCSI initiator 2.08 or later.
- Configure service IP addresses for the storage system.
The storage system and hosts use IP addresses to identify each other in iSCSI services. Therefore, service IP addresses must be configured for the storage system and hosts.
The supported IP protocols vary with the storage system version. Specify the IP protocol based on the actual storage system version and application scenario.
Observe the following rules when configuring IP addresses for the iSCSI ports of the storage system:
- The IP address of the iSCSI host port cannot reside on the same network segment as the IP address of the management network port.
- The IP address of the iSCSI host port cannot reside on the same network segment as the IP address of the heartbeat network port.
- IP addresses of the iSCSI host ports on the same controller cannot be on the same network segment.
Read-only users cannot modify the IP addresses of iSCSI host ports.
Modifying an IP address will interrupt services running on the host port.
The IP address configuration varies with the storage system.
- OceanStor T V1 series storage
Perform the following steps:
In the ISM navigation tree, choose Device Info > Storage Unit > Ports. In the function pane, click iSCSI Host Ports.
Select a port and choose IP Address > Modify IPv4 Address.
Figure 4-298 Modifying an IP addressIn the displayed dialog box, enter the new IP address and subnet mask and click OK.
- OceanStor 18000/OceanStor T V2/V3 series storage
Perform the following steps:
- Access the iSCSI Host Port dialog box.
Then perform the following steps:
a. On the home page, click the device icon.
b. In the middle function pane, click the cabinet whose iSCSI ports you want to view.
c. Click the controller enclosure where the desired iSCSI host ports reside. The controller enclosure view is displayed.
d. Click
to switch to the rear view.
e. Click the iSCSI host port whose information you want to modify.
f. The iSCSI Host Port dialog box is displayed.
g. Click Modify.
- Modify the iSCSI host port information.
a. In IPv4 Address or IPv6 Address, enter the IP address of the iSCSI host port.
b. In Subnet Mask or Prefix, enter the subnet mask or prefix of the iSCSI host port.
c. In MTU (Byte), set the maximum size of each data packet that can be transmitted between the iSCSI host port and the server. The value is an integer ranging from 1500 to 9216.
- Confirm the modification.
a. Click Apply. The Danger dialog box is displayed.
b. Carefully read the contents of the dialog box. Then click the check box next to the statement I have read the previous information and understood consequences of the operation to confirm the information.
c. Click OK. The Success dialog box is displayed, indicating that the operation succeeded.
d. Click OK.
- Access the iSCSI Host Port dialog box.
- Configure the IP address on a host.
Perform the following steps:
- Choose Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network Connections. Right-click the desired network port and choose Properties from the shortcut menu.
- Double-click Internet Protocol Version 4. In the displayed dialog box, configure the IPv4 address.
Figure 4-299 Configuring the IPv4 addressSelect Use the following IP address. Configure the following parameters:
- IP address: specifies the IP address.
- Subnet mask: specifies the subnet mask.
- Default gateway: specifies the default gateway.
- Configure the iSCSI initiator on the host.
Perform the following steps:
- Ensure that the network connectivity is normal between the host and the storage system.
After connecting the host and the storage system using a cable, ping each other's IP address respectively.
- Enter a name for the initiator.
In the iSCSI Initiator Properties window, click the Configuration tab and enter the initiator name.
Figure 4-300 Setting the iSCSI initiator nameIn this example, the initiator name is iqn.1991-05.com.microsoft:win-bs.1s108mrc2.
Rules for setting an iSCSI initiator name:
Format: iqn.domaindate.reverse.domain.name:optional name
An iSCSI initiator name contains only:
- Special characters: hyphens (-), periods (.), and semicolons (:)
- Lower-case letters (a to z)
- Digits (0 to 9)
- Ensure that the network connectivity is normal between the host and the storage system.
- Check the iSCSI target of the storage system.
- Discover the target.
On the Discovery tab page, click Discover Portal. In the displayed dialog box, enter the IP address of the storage system.
Figure 4-301 Configure the target IP address.Keep the default iSCSI port 3260 unchanged.
- Establish a connection.
On the Target tab page, select the newly discovered target and click Connect. Check whether the connection status of the target is connected. If yes, the connection is established between the host and the storage system.
Add the initiator to the host and ensure that the connection status of the initiator is Online.
If the connection status of the initiator is Online, the connection is established successfully.
If the connection status is Online, check the physical connection and topology mode.
- Discover the target.
- Configure the iSCSI service on the host.
- Discover the initiator in the storage system and establish a connection.
- Configure CHAP authentication for the storage system.
The method for configuring CHAP authentication varies with the storage system.
- OceanStor T V1 series storage
Perform the following steps:
- Go to the CHAP configuration page.
In the ISM navigation tree, choose SAN Services > Mappings > Initiators. In the function pane, select the initiator whose CHAP authentication you want to configure and choose CHAP > CHAP Configuration in the navigation bar.
