Querying the MZ620 Firmware Version in the OS

The method for querying the MZ620 firmware version varies depending on the operating system (OS) used. The following describes how to query the firmware version in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7.6 and Windows Server 2012 R2.

RHEL 7.6

  1. Check whether the OS is installed.

    • If yes, go to 2.
    • If no, contact Huawei technical support.

  2. Check whether the NIC driver is installed.

  3. Run the lspci |grep -i Mell command to query the NIC chip information and obtain the BDF number of the NIC. The MZ620 uses the Mellanox ConnectX-4 (CX4) chip.
  4. Run the ll / sys/class/net command to query the network port information, and obtain the network port name corresponding to BDF number obtained in 3.
  5. Run the ethtool –i Network port name command to query the firmware version of the network port.

  6. Obtain the driver version mapping information of the current version from FusionServer iDriver.
  7. Check whether the firmware version obtained in 5 matches the driver version based on the driver version mapping information.

    • If yes, no further action is required.
    • If no, go to 8.

  8. Check whether there is a specified firmware version.

Windows Server 2012 R2

  1. Check whether the OS is installed.

    • If yes, go to 2.
    • If no, contact Huawei technical support.

  2. Check whether the NIC driver is installed.

  3. Obtain the management tool mlxup.

    You can download the tool from http://www.mellanox.com/page/mlxup_firmware_tool.

  4. Press Ctrl+Alt+Del and enter the user name and password to access the OS.
  5. Use the remote KVM of the iBMC to mount the tool package to the OS.

  6. Install the tool.
  7. Double-click the CD drive on the local PC.

  8. Double-click mlxup and check the firmware version.

  9. Obtain the driver version mapping information of the current version from FusionServer iDriver.
  10. Check whether the firmware version obtained in 8 matches the driver version based on the driver version mapping information.

    • If yes, no further action is required.
    • If no, go to 11.

  11. Check whether there is a specified firmware version.
