Summary of PBR Configuration Tasks

Summary of PBR Configuration Tasks

The device supports local PBR and interface PBR based on information such as source addresses and packet lengths and supports SPR based on the link quality.

When a packet arrives, the system forwards the packet according to the configured PBR. If no PBR is configured or if PBR is configured but no matching entry exists, the system forwards the packet according to the routing table.

Table 12-1 lists PBR configuration tasks.

Table 12-1 PBR configuration tasks

Local PBR

Sends locally generated packets, such as ICMP and BGP packets.

When users want locally generated packets to be forwarded through different interfaces or to different next hops based on source addresses or packet lengths, configure local PBR.

Configuring Local PBR

Interface PBR

Forwards only packets received from other devices.

When users want some packets received from other devices to be forwarded to a specified next hop, configure interface PBR. Interface PBR specifies a next hop to which packets matching redirect rules are forwarded. Packets that do not match redirect rules are forwarded according to the routing table. Interface PBR is used for load balancing and security monitoring.

Configuring Interface PBR

Selects the optimal link for service flows based on link quality attributes.

When users want service flows to be transmitted through links with different quality levels, configure SPR.
