PDPOWERFAIL

PDPOWERFAIL

Description

HUAWEI POE/PDPOWERFAIL: PD power fail.(PortIndex=[integer])

The PD fails to be powered on.

Attribute

Alarm ID Alarm Severity Alarm Type
None None None

Parameters

Name Meaning
PortIndex Indicates the port number.

Impact on the System

The PD connected to the specified port cannot be powered on.

Possible Causes

  • A non-standard PD is connected to the port.
  • The power of the PD connected to the port exceeds the maximum output power configured for the port.
  • The output power of the PoE midspan is insufficient.

Procedure

  1. Run the poe legacy enable port port-num command to enable compatibility check so that the PoE midspan can detect and provide power for the PDs incompliant with 802.3af or 802.3at.

    NOTE:

It is not recommended to provide power for the PDs incompliant with 802.3af or 802.3at.

  2. Run the display poe power port { port-num | all } command to check the maximum power configured for the specified port.
  3. Run the display poe-power command to check the total power of PDs connected to all ports.
  4. Perform the following steps as required:

    • If the maximum output power configured for the port is smaller than the total power required by the PDs and can be increased, run the poe power port port-num port-power-max command to increase the maximum output power. Ensure that the output power is sufficient for all the PDs.

    • If the maximum output power configured for the port is smaller than the total power required by the PDs but cannot be increased, run the poe priority { critical | high | low } port port-num command to set power supply priorities for PDs. Then low-priority PDs are powered off and power supply of high-priority PDs is ensured.
