Creating an MD


IEEE Standard 802.1ag-2007 defines four formats for MDs:
  • no-md-name: The MAID field in outgoing CCMs does not carry the MD name.

  • dns-md-format-name: MD information in the MAID of outgoing CCMs is a character string that is obtained from the DNS text.

  • mac-md-format-name: MD information in the MAID of outgoing CCMs consists of the 6-byte MAC address plus two-byte integer in the range of 0 to 65535.

  • string: MD information in the MAID of outgoing CCMs is a character string.

Perform the following operations on the device where Ethernet CFM needs to be configured.


  1. Run system-view

    The system view is displayed.

  2. Run cfm md md-name [ format { no-md-name | dns dns-md-format-name | mac-address mac-md-format-name | string string-md-format-name } ] [ level level ]

    An MD is created and the MD view is displayed.

    By default, the level of a created MD is 0, which is the lowest level.

    Only IEEE Standard 802.1ag-2007 supports format, no-md-name, dns dns-md-format-name, mac-address mac-md-format-name, and string string-md-format-name.

    To create multiple MDs, repeat step 2. Up to 64 MDs can be created on the device.


    When 802.1ag packets in a low-level MD enter a high-level MD, the 802.1ag packets will be discarded. 802.1ag packets in a high-level MD can traverse a low-level MD.
