Troubleshooting Common Faults

Troubleshooting Common Faults

Possible Cause

The node status cannot be reported or the node icon is red.

The back-end IP address or subnet mask of the node is incorrect.

  1. Log in to the switch and run the display current-configuration command to confirm the VLAN ID.
  2. Log in to the storage node and run the ifconfig command.
    • Check whether the ID in SLOT4-0.ID of the node is the same as the ID of the back-end switch.
    • Check whether the back-end IP address and subnet mask are correct.
  • If the switch configuration is incorrect, reconfigure it.
  • If the node interface ID is incorrect, reconfigure it by seeing Modifying the Virtual Network Port ID on Each Storage Node in the appendix. Then perform 2 to restart the process.
  • If the IP address and subnet mask of the node are incorrectly configured, reconfigure them. Perform 2 to restart the process.

The VLAN configurations of the back-end storage network or back-end interface configurations of the node are incorrect.

The deploy process is abnormal.

  1. Run the ps aux | grep snas_deploy command.

If /opt/huawei/deploy/bin/snas_deploy is not displayed, the deploy process is abnormal. Perform 2 to restart the process.

  2. Run the follow commands in sequence to restart the deploy process.

    killall snas_deploy

    export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/opt/huawei/deploy/lib/

    /opt/huawei/deploy/script/ >/dev/null 2>&1

    nohup /opt/huawei/deploy/bin/snas_deploy >/dev/null 2>&1 &

Log in to Operation & Maintenance Tool.

  • The IP address assigned for NIC1 of the physical node is incorrect.

  • A cable or port failure exists.

  • The Operation & Maintenance Tool process is abnormal.

  1. See chapter Logging In to a Storage Node Using the KVM in this documentation to log in to a storage node, and run the ifconfig NIC1 command to check the IP address and subnet mask.

If either of them is incorrect, re-configure it.

  2. Check the network port indicator to make sure that all cables and ports are working properly.

  3. Try to log in to Operation & Maintenance Tool of another node.

If the login attempt succeeds, use this node as the deployment node for software deployment.

The IP address of network port SLOT4-0/SLOT4-0.2 is incorrect.

  • The node does not have a back-end IP address.

  • The back-end IP address allocated to the node is not the IP address planned for network port SLOT4-0/SLOT4-0.2 in the configuration file.

  • The back-end IP address is not selected in the DHCP configuration.

  1. Run the ifconfig command to check the IP address.

If the IP address is not configured or is incorrect, re-configure it.

  2. Return to the deployment home page, and select the back-end IP address in the DHCP configuration.

A connection failure is prompted when the expansion progress is 0%.

Multiple DHCP Server services exist in the back-end network.

Log in to the operating system of each non-deployment node and run the service dhcpd stop command to stop the DHCP Server service.
