Logging In to a Storage Node Using the KVM

Logging In to a Storage Node Using the KVM

A video graphic array (VGA) cable, display, mouse, and keyboard can work together to play the same role as a keyboard, video, and mouse (KVM). You can connect a VGA cable to a display through a VGA port and then connect the mouse and keyboard to a storage node through their USB ports. After the display is connected, the login page of the storage node will appear. If it does not, press Enter.

  1. Connect the storage node to any port from PC1 to PC8 on the keyboard, video, and mouse (KVM).

Figure 8-1  Connecting a storage node to a KVM

  2. Press a number key on the KVM to connect the storage node to the corresponding port on the KVM.

For example, to connect the storage node to PC2 on the KVM, press 2.

  3. Enter the user name and password of the Linux operating system.

The default password for user root is Root@storage.

    • For security purposes, after the software installation, you are advised to change the default password at your first login and periodically change the password.
    • If the KVM connected to the storage node is not delivered with the FusionStorage, login to the storage node may fail. If a login failure occurs, disconnect the KVM and connect a monitor and a keyboard to the storage node.

    • During the process, you can run the TMOUT=0 command to avoid automatic disconnections due to timeout.
