Handling Noise Issues for devices

Noise of devices comes from the rotating fan. Human bodies will be harmed if working in a high noise environment for a long term without protection.

Noise Standard

Devices are in compliance with the ETSI ETS 300 753 standard.

Noise Cause

Noise of devices comes from fans. Since the fan speed varies, the noise levels are different.

Improper Device Installation
  1. The device installation environment does not meet requirements, and the ambient temperature is high.

    The fans configured for devices adopt the intelligent speed mode. In other words, the fan speed is dynamically adjusted depending on the ambient temperature to stabilize the board temperature within its working temperature range.

    At high ambient temperature, the fan speed will increase to ensure normal running of devices. As a result, the noise level increases accordingly. Therefore, the fan speed relates to the ambient temperature.

  2. Devices are installed too close to human bodies.
  3. Fans are not installed horizontally.

    If the fan is not installed horizontally, the fan vibration will increase and cause much noise.

Improper Device Maintenance
  1. The fan is faulty and is not replaced timely.

    Since more than one fan is installed inside the fan assembly of the PTN device, if one fan is faulty, other fans will rotate in a full speed. Therefore, if one fan is faulty but not replaced timely, the noise will increase.

  2. The dustproof air filters are not cleaned timely.

    Dustproof air filters are installed at the air inlets. If the equipment room is not clean, dust will accumulate and even block the dustproof and fireproof air filters, causing poor heat dissipation. To ensure normal running of devices, the fan speed will increase and the noise level increases accordingly.

  3. The alarm is reported and is not cleared timely.

Solution to Improving Device Installation
  1. For the improper device installation issue, see Device Operating Environment Requirements in the product manual.
  2. Reinstall the fan and ensure it is inserted into the position.
Solution to Improving Device Maintenance
  1. If a fan is faulty, replace the fan rapidly.
  2. Clean the dustproof air filters every 3 months.
  3. Clear the urgent alarms for devices or run scripts to disable the buzzer.
