Configuring a DHCP Server

Configuring a DHCP Server

You can configure a DHCP server to allocate IP addresses to RUs and STAs.

Configuring a DHCP Server

To go online normally, RUs and STAs must obtain IP addresses. You can configure a central AP as a DHCP server or use an independent DHCP server to allocate IP addresses to RUs and STAs.
  • When an enterprise branch has no independent DHCP server, configure a central AP as the DHCP server.
  • An independent DHCP server applies to large WLANs of large- and medium-sized campus networks.

For details on how to configure a DHCP server, see .

A service DHCP address pool assigns IP addresses to STAs, and a management DHCP address pool assigns IP addresses to RUs. The two types of DHCP address pools must be configured separately.
