Configuring STAs to Go Online

Pre-configuration Tasks

Before configuring STAs to go online, complete the following tasks:
  • Perform the task of Configuring AP System Parameters.

  • Configure a DHCP server to allocate IP addresses to STAs.


    For details on how to configure a DHCP server, see DHCP Configuration. To use a DHCP server to assign IP addresses to STAs, configure the fat AP as the DHCP server or use an independent DHCP server.

    • When an enterprise branch has no independent DHCP server, configure an fat AP as the DHCP server.
    • An independent DHCP server applies to large WLANs of large- and medium-sized campus networks.


Configuring a Radio and Configuring a VAP can be performed in any sequence. Verifying the STA Online Result is performed after all configuration tasks are complete.
