VLAN Deployment

Packets transmitted on a WLAN include management packets and service data packets. For the AD9430DN-12 and AD9430DN-24, management packets and service data packets must be forwarded through Control And Provisioning of Wireless Access Points (CAPWAP) tunnels. For the AD9431DN-24X, management packets are forwarded through CAPWAP tunnels while service data packets are forwarded directly.

In practice, the management VLAN and service VLAN must be configured for management packets and service data packets.

  • Management VLAN: transmits packets that are forwarded through CAPWAP tunnels.
  • Service VLAN: transmits service data packets.
  • It is recommended that you use different VLANs for the management VLAN and service VLAN.

  • You are not advised to use VLAN 1 as the management VLAN or service VLAN.
