Configuring Network Interconnections

Configuring Network Interconnections

To enable RUs and STAs to obtain IP addresses, RUs to discover the central AP and go online on the central AP, and STAs to access the network, configure interconnections between network devices.

The RUs need to send service packets to STAs, and forward management packets and STAs' service packets the central AP. When configuring network interconnections, configure the management and service packets separately.

Configuring Management Packet Exchange

Management packets between the central AP and RUs are transmitted only on the network between them. To ensure that the central AP and RUs exchange management packets properly, you need to configure correct VLANs and routes.

The PVIDs of network device interfaces directly connected to the RUs must be set to management VLAN IDs.

Configuring Service Packet Exchange

Service packets are transmitted between the STAs and upper-layer network. Configure service packet exchange based on the forwarding mode to ensure their proper transmissions.

Configuring RUs and STAs to Communicate with the DHCP Server

The RUs and STAs must obtain IP addresses from the DHCP server; therefore, you need to configure the RUs and STAs to communicate with the DHCP server.
