Introduction to Multicast CAC

Introduction to Multicast CAC

Multicast CAC limits the number of users joining multicast groups based on various rules to ensure availability of the overall multicast services.

As IPTV services develop, multicast services are widely deployed. The following problems may occur when IPTV services are deployed on a network:
  • When a large number of users use multicast services on a network, the quality of multicast services severely deteriorates when network resources are insufficient.
  • If the network bandwidth is insufficient, the network cannot bear all multicast traffic, which degrades users' image quality.

Multicast CAC addresses the preceding problems. It performs access control on devices to accurately control the multicast services to ensure service quality for most users.
