Configuration Notes

This section describes notes on configuring IGMP snooping.

Note the following when configuring IGMP snooping on the access point:

  • If a access point running IGMP snooping receives IGMPv1 or IGMPv2 Report messages with SSM group addresses (default range:, the access point does not create Layer 2 multicast forwarding entries.
  • If Layer 2 multicast is configured in the VLAN where a VAP of the device resides and a Layer 2 multicast entry with the outbound interface as the VAP interface exists, the Layer 2 multicast entry is deleted when you configure or delete multicast-to-unicast on the VAP. In this case, the device needs to learn the entry again.
  • If multicast-to-unicast is configured on the VAP and a multicast-to-unicast entry exists, the entry is deleted when you configure or delete Layer 2 multicast in the VLAN where the VAP resides. In this case, the device needs to learn the entry again.
