Logging In to the Device Through STelnet

Pre-configuration Tasks

Before logging in to the device through STelnet, complete the following tasks:

  • Start the device properly.
  • Prepare network cables used to connect device interfaces.
  • Configure the PC's IP address and subnet mask. The IP address must be on the network segment but cannot be is recommended. The subnet mask is
  • Ensuring that the IP address and subnet mask have been configured on VLANIF 1 of the device before the delivery, and GE0/0/0 has been added to VLAN 1 by default.
  • Before the device is delivered, the STelnet service has been configured on the device. The STelnet interface number is 22, and the default user name and password are respectively admin and
  • By default, an AP obtains a dynamic IP address through DHCP. If the AP fails to obtain an IP address through DHCP, configure the IP address for the AP. If the AP obtains an IP address through DHCP, ensure that the PC's IP address is on the same network segment as the IP address obtained by the AP.


  1. Use the SSH client software to log in to the device through STelnet from a terminal. The third-party software SecureCRT is used as an example here.
    1. After the device is powered on, connect the PC's network interface to GE0/0/0 of the device using network cables.


      Ping from the PC to check whether the device can be pinged successfully. If the ping operation fails, check whether the PC's IP address is correct or replace the network cable.

      The version of SecureCRT must be 8.0 or later.

    2. Use the SecureCRT software to log in to the device, enter the device IP address.

    3. Click Open. Enter the user name and password at the prompt, and press Enter. You have logged in to the device. (The following information is only for reference.)

      It is recommended that you change the initial user name and password after login. For details, see Configuring a User Interface.

  2. Confirm or configure the country code.

    Warning: The default country code is CN. Ensure that AP radio attributes comply 
    with laws and regulations in different countries. Do you want to change the coun

    Please enter the country code:US      
    Confirm or configure the country code upon the first login or empty configuration (in scenarios such as factory setting restoration and cloud/Fit mode switching to Fat mode). To modify the default country code, configure a correct country code. For details, see Table 1 in the Command Reference.
