Example for Configuring PoE

Networking Requirements

As shown in Figure 5-22, the APs are placed outside the office and cannot connect to the power module. Directly provide power supplies for the APs to save the device deployment cost.

Among the APs, AP1 is the most important one because it provides WLAN services for visitors. Therefore, the power supply for AP1 takes precedence over that for other APs.

Configuration Roadmap

The APs must support the PoE function.

The configuration roadmap is as follows:

  1. Configure the automatic power management mode for the device to flexibly manage the connected PD devices.
  2. Configure the power supply priority of GigabitEthernet0/0/1 on the device to Critical to guarantee the power supply for AP1.


  1. # Set the device power management mode to automatic.

  2. Set the power supply priority of GigabitEthernet0/0/1 to Critical.

  3. Verify the configuration.

    # Display the PoE power supply status of the interface on the device.
