IP address

A 32-bit (four-byte) binary number that uniquely identifies a host (a computer) on a computer network that uses the Internet Protocol for communication, which enables transmitting data in form of packets. An IP address consists of four decimal numbers, which are separated by dots (.). For example, The first one to three bytes of an IP address indicate the network to which the host is connected and the remaining bits indicate the host.
