Setting the Communication Protocol Between the uREST and iBMC

Setting the Communication Protocol Between the uREST and iBMC

Function

Set the communication protocol between the uREST and iBMC. If the communication protocol is IPv4, you need to specify the IPv4 address of the iBMC.

This command applies only to the scenario where uRest is used in in-band mode.

Format

./urest setprotocol M {IPv4,IPv6} I ADDRESS

Parameters

Parameter

Description

Value

–M {IPv4,IPv6}

Sets the communication mode between the uREST and iBMC. It is a mandatory parameter.

  • IPv4: The IPv4 mode is used for communication.
  • IPv6: The IPv6 mode is used for communication.

–I ADDRESS

iBMC IPv4 address. It is a mandatory parameter when IPv4 is used for communication. This parameter does not need to be set when IPv6 is used for communication.

Usage Guidelines

  1. Go to the conf directory in the iBMA installation directory and modify the iBMA_http_server_ip, iBMC_ip, iBMA_netmask, and iBMC_netmask parameters in the iBMA.ini file. See Figure 3-1.
    Figure 3-1 Modifying parameters
    • The installation paths of the iBMA on different OSs are as follows:
      • Linux OS: /opt/huawei/ibma/
      • Windows OS: C:\Huawei\iBMA2.0\
      • VMware OS: /etc/cim/huawei/iBMA2.0
    • The configuration is for the veth of the iBMA and iBMC, which does not affect service network ports.
    • When configuring the IPv4 mode, ensure that the values of iBMA_http_server_ip and iBMC_ip are on the same network segment.
  2. Restart the iBMA service after the configuration is complete.
  3. Run the uREST and run the following command to set the communication mode between the uREST and iBMC:

    ./urest setprotocol M {IPv4,IPv6} I ADDRESS

When the communication mode is set to IPv4, the IP address is the iBMC address configured in the iBMA configuration file. When the communication mode is set to IPv6, the -I parameter is not required.

Example

Set the communication protocol between the uREST and iBMC.

[root@localhost bin]# ./urest setprotocol –M IPv4 –I 192.100.17.31
Success: successfully completed request
