Set power capping.


./urest -H HOST -p PORT -U USERNAME -P PASSWORD setpowerlimit -L LIMIT -E {NoAction,HardPowerOff}






iBMC IP address or domain name. It is a mandatory parameter. If an IPv6 address is used, the IPv6 address must be included in square brackets, such as [1001::1001].



Port number. The default value is 443. It is an optional parameter.

Enter the port number if the default value 443 is not used.


iBMC user name. It is a mandatory parameter.



Password of the iBMC user. It is a mandatory parameter.



Power capping value. It is an optional parameter.

  • Disabled: Disable power capping.
  • Actual power capping value


Operation after the power capping value is reached. It is an optional parameter.

  • HardPowerOff: Power off the server.
  • NoAction: No operation is performed.

TaiShan servers do not support this function.

Usage Guidelines

  • TaiShan 100 servers do not support this function.
  • TaiShan 200 servers support this function only when the iBMC version is 369 or later.


Obtain help information.

[root@localhost bin]# ./urest -H -U ****** -P ****** setpowerlimit -h 
usage: urest setpowerlimit [-h] [-L LIMIT] [-E {NoAction,HardPowerOff}] 

optional arguments: 
  -h, --help            show this help message and exit 
  -L LIMIT              power limit value (Disabled or integer value) 
  -E {NoAction,HardPowerOff} 
                        power limit exception action

Set power capping.

[root@localhost bin]# ./urest -H -U ****** -P ****** setpowerlimit -L 700 -E HardPowerOff 
Success: successfully completed request

Query power capping.

[root@localhost bin]# ./urest -H -U ****** -P ****** getpowerlimit 
LimitInWatts  : 700
LimitException: HardPowerOff
