Overview

Networking Planes

The FusionStorage storage system provides the following networking planes:
  • Service plane

This network plane interconnects FusionStorage with the service network of a customer for clients to access services.

  • Management plane

This network plane interconnects FusionStorage with the management network of a customer for cluster management.

  • Storage plane

The network plane is used by each node of FusionStorage for data communications between storage nodes and between computing nodes and storage nodes.

  • BMC network

This network is used to remotely manage hardware by connecting to the Mgmt port of a FusionStorage node.

Application Scenario

10GE networking applies to the virtualization of blade servers or rack servers.

FusionStorage Networking

Figure 1-1 shows the FusionStorage networking.

Switches used in the networking are as follows:
  • CE6851-48S6Q-HI

10GE switch, CE6800 for short. Serves as a storage switch and provides forty-eight 10GE SFP+ Ethernet optical ports and six 40GE QSFP+ Ethernet optical ports.

  • CE6855-48S6Q-HI

10GE switch, CE6800 for short. Serves as a storage switch and provides forty-eight 10GE SFP+ Ethernet optical ports and six 40GE QSFP+ Ethernet optical ports.

  • CE5855-48T4S2Q-EI

GE switch, CE5800 for short. Serves as a BMC/management switch and provides forty-eight 100/1000BASE-T Ethernet electrical ports, four 10GE SFP+ Ethernet optical ports, and two 40GE QSFP+ Ethernet optical ports.

NOTE:

At the data link layer, if the number of network ports on the storage nodes connected to the CE6800 switches exceeds 100, run the arp anti-attack rate-limit 500 command on the switches to change the upper limit of processing the ARP packets to prevent the switches from discarding ARP packets.
