Configuring MQC-based Local Traffic Mirroring

Configuration Process

No. Task Remarks
1 Configure a local observing port. -
2 Create a traffic classifier.
  • Tasks 2 and 3 can be performed in any sequence.
  • Task 2 can be performed multiple times. That is, you can bind multiple traffic classifiers to a traffic policy to mirror the packets that match these traffic classifiers.
3 Configure a traffic behavior and define traffic mirroring in the traffic behavior.
4 Configure a traffic policy. -
5 Apply the traffic policy.
  • Task 5 can be performed multiple times in different VLANs or interfaces to mirror traffic in different VLANs or interfaces to the same observing port.
  • Only one traffic policy can be applied to the inbound or outbound direction of each interface or VLAN.

Procedure

  1. Run the system-view command to enter the system view.
  2. Configure local observing ports.

    Run the observe-port [ observe-port-index ] interface interface-type interface-number command to configure a local observing port.

    NOTE:

    An observing port is dedicated to forwarding mirrored traffic. Do not configure other services on an observing port; otherwise, mirrored traffic and other service traffic interfere with each other.

  3. Create a traffic classifier.

    1. Run the traffic classifier classifier-name [ operator { and | or } ] command to create a traffic classifier and enter the traffic classifier view.

    2. Run the if-match command to configure a matching rule.

      You can configure multiple matching rules in a traffic classifier. For details, see Configuring a Traffic Classifier in "MQC Configuration" in the S600-E V200R011C10 Configuration Guide - QoS.

    3. Run the quit command to exit from the traffic classifier view.

  4. Configure a traffic behavior and define traffic mirroring in the traffic behavior.

    1. Run the traffic behavior behavior-name command to create a traffic behavior and enter the traffic behavior view.

    2. Run the mirroring to observe-port observe-port-index command to define traffic mirroring in the traffic behavior.

      observe-port-index specifies the observing port index and must be the same as the index of the configured observing port.

    3. Run the quit command to exit from the traffic behavior view.

  5. Configure a traffic policy.

    1. Run the traffic policy policy-name command to create a traffic policy and enter the traffic policy view.

      For details about how to configure a traffic policy, see Configuring a Traffic Policy in "MQC Configuration" in the S600-E V200R011C10 Configuration Guide - QoS.

    2. Run the classifier classifier-name behavior behavior-name command to bind the traffic classifier configured in step 3 and traffic behavior configured in step 4 to the traffic policy.

    3. Run the quit command to exit from the traffic policy view.

  6. Apply the traffic policy.

    A traffic policy can be applied to the system, a VLAN, or an interface. For details, see Applying the Traffic Policy in "MQC Configuration" in the S600-E V200R011C10 Configuration Guide - QoS.

    • Apply the traffic policy to the system.

      Run the traffic-policy policy-name global { inbound | outbound } [ slot slot-id ] command to apply the traffic policy globally.

    • Apply the traffic policy to a VLAN.

      1. Run the vlan vlan-id command to enter the VLAN view.

      2. Run the traffic-policy policy-name { inbound | outbound } command to apply the traffic policy to the VLAN.

    • Apply the traffic policy to an interface.

      1. Run the interface interface-type interface-number command to enter the interface view.

      2. Run the traffic-policy policy-name { inbound | outbound } command to apply the traffic policy to the interface.

Configuration Tips

Restoring the default configuration of an Ethernet port configured as an observing port

  1. Delete the traffic policy applied to the system, a VLAN, or an interface. In the following example, a traffic policy is deleted from an interface.

    [HUAWEI] interface gigabitethernet x/x/x
    [HUAWEI-GigabitEthernetx/x/x] undo traffic-policy inbound/outbound
    [HUAWEI-GigabitEthernetx/x/x] quit
  2. Delete the traffic policy in the system view.

    [HUAWEI] undo traffic policy xxx
    
  3. Delete the traffic behavior containing the traffic mirroring action in the system view.

    [HUAWEI] undo traffic behavior xxx
  4. Delete the observing port configuration in the system view.

    [HUAWEI] undo observe-port x
    
  5. After steps 1 through 4 are complete, the default configuration of the Ethernet port is restored. You can then configure other services on the Ethernet port or Eth-Trunk.
