Testing Telepresence Network Quality During a Telepresence Video Conference

Background

If a telepresence monitoring tool detects that the jitter or packet loss ratio of the telepresence network exceeds the set threshold during a telepresence video conference, perform Real-Time Transport Protocol (RTP) and RTP snooping tests to locate the points of failures and rectify the faults. In a telepresence video conference, the delay of the real-time audio and video traffic cannot be tested.

Because audio and video traffic is available for testing, you only need to configure an RTP snooping test instance on the intermediate and destination nodes to snoop audio and video traffic and test the jitter and packet loss ratio.

In Figure 6-26, SwitchA is the source node, SwitchD is the destination node, and SwitchB and SwitchC are intermediate nodes.

Configuration Procedure

  1. Run system-view

    The system view is displayed.

  2. Run nqa test-instance admin-name test-name

    An NQA test instance is created and the test instance view is displayed.

  3. Run test-type rtpsnoop

    The test instance type is set to rtpsnoop.

  4. Run destination-address ipv4 ip-address

    The destination port IP address for the RTP snooping test instance is set.

  5. Run destination-port port-number

    The destination port number for the RTP snooping test instance is configured.

  6. Run source-address ipv4 ip-address

    The source port IP address for the RTP snooping test instance is configured.

  7. Run source-port port-number

    The source port number for the RTP snooping test instance is configured.

  8. (Optional) Run the following commands to configure other parameters for the RTP snooping test instance:
    • Run description string

      A description is configured.

    • Run duration duration

      The test duration is configured.

    • Run protocol-type { udp | tcp }

      The protocol type is configured.

    • Run sampling-frequency frequency

      The snooping frequency is configured.

  9. Run start now

    The RTP snooping test instance is started.

  10. Run stop

    The RTP snooping test instance is stopped.
