Configuring a PWE3 Ping Test Instance on a Multi-Hop PW

Context

An NQA PWE3 ping test checks the reachability of an MPLS-based PW.

The PWE3 ping test provides functions similar to the ping vc command but provides richer outputs.

Procedure

  1. Run system-view

    The system view is displayed.

  2. Run nqa test-instance admin-name test-name

    An NQA test instance is created and the test instance view is displayed.

  3. Run test-type pwe3ping

    The test type is set to PWE3 Ping.

  4. (Optional) Run vc-type ldp

    The method of setting up a PW is configured.

  5. (Optional) Run local-pw-type local-pw-type

    The type of the local PW is configured. By default, the type is Ethernet.

  6. Run lsp-version { rfc4379 | draft6 }

    A protocol is configured for the LSP test instance.

  7. Run sender-address

    The source IP address is configured for the multi-hop PW.

  8. (Optional) Run label-type { control-word | { label-alert | normal } [ no-control-word ] }

    The type of the PW label is configured.

    NOTE:
    • When label-type is set to control-word, run the remote-pw-id remote-pw-id command to configure the ID of the remote end of the PW. If the PW label type is set to control-word, the control word feature must be enabled for the PW.

    • When label-type is set to label-alert, run the destination-address ipv4 ipv4-address [ lsp-masklen masklen | lsp-masklen masklen lsp-loopback loopback-address | lsp-loopback loopback-address lsp-masklen masklen ] command to configure the destination IP address of the PWE3 ping test.

    • When label-type is set to normal, run the destination-address ipv4 ipv4-address [ lsp-masklen masklen | lsp-masklen masklen lsp-loopback loopback-address | lsp-loopback loopback-address lsp-masklen masklen ] command to configure the destination IP address of the PWE3 ping test.

    The default encapsulation type is control-word. If the device interworks with non-Huawei devices and no control-word information is contained in the packets of non-Huawei devices, you can specify the no-control-word parameter in label-type command to delete the control-word option. The undo no-control-word command can be used to restore the control-word option.

  9. Run local-pw-id local-pw-id

    The ID of the local end of the PW is configured.

  10. (Optional) Run ttl-copymode { pipe | uniform }

    A time to live (TTL) copy mode is set.

    The processing method for TTL values varies according to copy mode.
    • If you set the copy mode to pipe, the system removes the outer label, decreases the TTL value in the inner label by 1, and sets the TTL value in the outer label to 255 after receiving a packet.
    • If you set the copy mode to uniform, the system copies the TTL value in the outer label to the inner label, decreases the TTL value in the inner label by 1, and sets the TTL value in the outer label to the TTL value in the inner label after receiving a packet.

  11. (Optional) Run the following commands to configure other parameters for the PWE3 ping test.

    • To configure the response mode of the Echo packet, run the lsp-replymode { no-reply | udp } command.

    • To configure the LSP EXP value, run the lsp-exp exp command.
