(Optional) Enabling the Handshake Function


The handshake function keeps PPPoE users online. The device periodically sends handshake request packets to PPPoE users. If a user does not respond within the maximum retransmission times, the device disconnects the user.


  1. Run system-view

    The system view is displayed.

  2. Run interface virtual-template vt-number

    A virtual template is created or a virtual template view is displayed.

  3. Run ppp keepalive { interval interval-time | retransmit times } *

    The handshake timeout interval and maximum retransmission times of handshake packets are set.

    By default, the handshake function is enabled, the handshake timeout interval is 40s, and maximum retransmission times of handshake packets is 2.
