Application Scenarios for DAA

As shown in Figure 2-2, users on the campus network of a university can access resources on the campus network or external network through the Switch. The campus network built by the university provides a large number of learning materials, which are free for internal users. The external network is leased from the ISP. The users need to be charged when they access the external network resources.

After DAA is configured, when users access external network resources, the device collects statistics on traffic and sends the statistics to the accounting server. The accounting server then performs accounting. When users access internal network resources, the device collects statistics on traffic but does not send the statistics to the accounting server. The accounting server does not perform accounting.
