Creating an L3VE Interface

Creating an L3VE Interface

Perform the following steps on an NPE.

  1. Run system-view

    The system view is displayed.

  2. Run interface virtual-ethernet ve-number

A VE interface is created and the VE interface view is displayed.

  3. Run ve-group ve-group-id l3-access

The VE interface is configured as an L3VE interface that accesses the L3VPN and is bound to a VE group.

The L2VPN can be configured to access the L3VPN only if the L2VE and L3VE interfaces are bound to the same VE group and the L2VE and L3VE interfaces are on the same card.

After a VE interface is bound to a VE group, you are advised to run the load-distribution mode slot slot-id enhanced command to set the load balancing mode of an HG trunk to enhanced. Otherwise, traffic transmitted between two cards may fail to be load balanced in an HG trunk, causing inter-card packet loss.
