You can restore the factory configuration of the configuration file or the switch based on different scenarios.

Restoring the Factory Configuration of the Configuration File

You can restart a switch using the factory configuration file by holding down reset.
NOTE:

You can only restore the factory configuration of the configuration file on the S1720GFR, S1720GW-E, S1720GWR-E, and S1720X-E.

  1. Run system-view

    The system view is displayed.

  2. Run undo factory-configuration prohibit

    The command enables the function of restoring the factory configuration of a switch by holding down reset.

    By default, you can hold down reset to restore the factory configuration.

  3. Run set factory-configuration operate-mode { reserve-configuration | delete-configuration }

    The mode of restoring the factory configuration is set to reserve or delete.

    Reserve mode: The current configuration file will be reserved after you restore factory configurations.

    Delete mode: The current configuration file will be deleted after you restore factory configurations.

    By default, the system reserves the previous configuration file when restoring the factory configuration.

  4. Run the display factory-configuration information command to check whether the function of restoring the factory configuration by holding down reset is enabled and the mode of restoring the factory configuration.
  5. Hold down reset for more than 5 seconds and restart the device. Do not save the configuration when you restart the device.

Restoring the Factory Configuration of a Switch in One-Click Mode

If you want to clear all service configurations and data files, run the following command to restore the factory configuration of a switch in one-click mode.

  1. In the user view, run reset factory-configuration.

    The switch is reset and restored to factory default.

    This command restores the factory configuration of the system configuration file and clears all service configurations and data files of a switch. Exercise caution when running this command.
  2. In the user view, run display factory-configuration reset-result.

    The result of the latest factory default restoration of the switch is displayed.
