Configuring Port Security

Configuring Port Security

Port security changes the dynamic MAC addresses learned on an interface into secure MAC addresses (including dynamic and static secure MAC addresses, and sticky MAC addresses). This function prevents unauthorized users from communicating with the switch using this interface and therefore enhances switch security.

Pre-configuration Tasks

Before configuring port security, complete the following tasks:
  • Disable MAC address limiting on the interface.
  • Disable MUX VLAN.
  • Disable MAC address authentication.
  • Disable 802.1X authentication.
  • Disable MAC address security for DHCP snooping on the interface.
