Networking Requirements

As shown in Figure 9-7, SwitchA functions as the FTP server and has IP address 10.1.1.1/24. The local PC functions as the FTP client and has IP address 10.2.1.1/24. There are reachable routes between the FTP server and FTP client.

NOTE:

FTP cannot ensure secure file transfer. SFTP is recommended on networks that require high security.

The current system software version of SwitchA cannot meet user requirements and needs to be upgraded using ISSU to minimize service interruption.

Configuration Roadmap

The configuration roadmap is as follows:
  1. Upload the new system software file to SwitchA.

  2. Perform ISSU precheck to check the ISSU modes supported by service modules.

  3. Configure the ISSU rollback timer.

  4. Perform ISSU availability check.

  5. Start ISSU.

  6. Switch the ISSU plane.

  7. Confirm ISSU.

Procedure

  1. Upload the new system software file.

    # Start the FTP service on SwitchA and set the FTP user name to user1 and password to huawei2012.

  3. Set the ISSU rollback timer to 60 minutes.

  4. Perform ISSU check to determine the ISSU mode.

    3. To start ISSU, Run the command (issu start). Otherwise, the system will roll back to the old version after the ISSU timer time out.
    4. To roll back the system to the old version immediately, run the command (issu abort).

  5. Start ISSU.

    The ISSU plane switchover will interrupt a Telnet connection for 30s. Wait for 30s and then press Enter to re-log in to the device for ISSU.

  7. Confirm ISSU on the new master MPU.

  8. View the current system software version to check whether ISSU succeeds.
