Configuring I/O Priorities
Configure the I/O priority of a LUN, snapshot, or file system based on the importance of applications processed by the LUN, snapshot, or file system. There are three I/O priorities available: high, medium, and low.
Prerequisites
At least one LUN, snapshot, or file system has been created.
Context
- When you create a LUN, specify an I/O priority for the LUN. If the I/O priority is not specified, the LUN will be granted the low priority by default.
- The created snapshot or file system will be granted the low priority by default.
- After a LUN, snapshot, or file system is created, its I/O priority can be manually changed.
Procedure
- Log in to DeviceManager.
- Choose
Provisioning >
Resource Performance Tuning >
SmartQoS.
- Click the Priority Control tab.
- Select LUN, Snapshot, or File System from the Resource Type drop-down list.
- Select the LUN, snapshot, or file system you want to modify.
- Click Modify I/O Priority.
The Modify I/O Priority dialog box is displayed.
- Select a proper I/O priority.
The system supports three I/O priorities: Low, Medium, and High. A LUN, snapshot, or file system with a high priority can obtain system resources preferentially. You can set different values for specific LUNs or snapshots based on service priorities, ensuring critical service performance.
- Confirm the I/O priority setting.
- Click OK.
The Warning dialog box is displayed.
- Confirm the information in the dialog box, select I have read and understand the consequences associated with performing this operation, and click OK.
The Execution Result dialog box is displayed, indicating that the operation succeeded.
- Click Close.
- Click OK.
