Configuration Process (System User)
Before configuring SmartMulti-Tenant, understand the process to ensure a smooth configuration.
Scenario 1: Configuring All Storage Resources
After configuring basic global resources in the system view, system users switch to the vStore view and configure vStore services in the vStore view. Figure 3-1 shows the configuration process.
Table 3-1 lists the configuration steps.

---|---|---|---|
Preparing for configuration |
Logging in to DeviceManager |
DeviceManager is a device management platform software developed by Huawei. You can log in to DeviceManager to manage and maintain the storage system. |

Checking the license file |
Check the license file required by the feature. |

Creating storage space |
Creating a disk domain and a storage pool |
A disk domain provides storage space for storage pools. Storage tiers and available capacities depend on the disk types, capacity, and hot spare policy of the disk domain. The storage system automatically allocates hot spare space with different capacities based on hot spare policies to take over data from failed member disks. The storage space used by application servers is provided by the storage pools of the storage system. |
|
Creating a role |
Creating a role |
Storage systems control object operation permissions based on roles. After a role is assigned to a user, the user has the permission to access or operate the objects specified by the role. |
|
Creating a vStore |
Creating a vStore |
Creating a vStore is the prerequisite for allocating and managing vStore services. |
|
Creating a LUN |
Creating a LUN |
A LUN indicates a logical unit in storage space. |
|
Creating a LUN group |
Creating a LUN group |
A LUN group is a set of LUNs. Only LUN groups can be added to a mapping view. |
|
Creating a host |
Creating a host |
A host is a virtual application server on a storage system. Each host corresponds to an application server. For this reason, you can add an initiator for a host to establish a logical connection between the storage system and application server. |
|

A host group is a set of hosts. Only host groups can be added to a mapping view. |
|
Creating a mapping view |
Creating a mapping view |
The application server corresponding to a host in a host group can use the storage space designated by a LUN in a LUN group only after the host group and LUN group are added to the same mapping view. |
|
Making storage space available |
Making storage space available |
Application servers must scan for disks to detect the LUNs mapped by the storage system and use the storage space. |
Scenario 2: Configuring Partial Storage Resources
After configuring basic global resources in the system view, system users switch to the vStore view and create vStore users in the vStore view to prepare for vStore user configuration and vStore service management. Figure 3-2 shows the configuration process.
