Creating a LUN Group

Creating a LUN Group

To allow hosts to use LUNs, you must add LUNs into LUN groups. Then, establish mapping views between the LUN groups and host groups. By doing so, the hosts in the host groups can use the LUNs in the LUN groups.

  • Super administrators, administrators, SAN resource administrators, and vStore administrators can create a LUN group.
  • For versions earlier than V500R007C30, a LUN group can contain up to 4096 LUNs, and a LUN can be added to a maximum of eight LUN groups.
  • For V500R007C30 and later versions, a LUN group can contain up to 4096 LUNs, and a LUN can be added to a maximum of 64 LUN groups.

  1. Log in to DeviceManager.
  2. Go to the LUN page.

The operation path varies with user types:

    • System user: Click vStore, select the desired vStore, and click Details to go to the vStore view. Choose Provisioning > LUN > LUN Group.
    • vStore user: In the vStore view, choose Provisioning > LUN > LUN Group.

  3. Click Create.

The Create LUN Group dialog box is displayed.

  4. Set basic properties for the LUN group. Table 3-12 describes related parameters.

By default, the Show only the LUNs that do not belong to any LUN group check box in the bottom left corner of the dialog box is selected to facilitate LUN locating.

    2. Click to add the LUNs or snapshots to the Selected LUNs or Selected Snapshots area.

  6. Confirm the creation of the LUN group.
