Creating a LUN Group
To allow hosts to use LUNs, you must add LUNs into LUN groups. Then, establish mapping views between the LUN groups and host groups. By doing so, the hosts in the host groups can use the LUNs in the LUN groups.
Context
- Super administrators, administrators, SAN resource administrators, and vStore administrators can create a LUN group.
- For versions earlier than V500R007C30, a LUN group can contain up to 4096 LUNs, and a LUN can be added to a maximum of eight LUN groups.
- For V500R007C30 and later versions, a LUN group can contain up to 4096 LUNs, and a LUN can be added to a maximum of 64 LUN groups.
Procedure
- Log in to DeviceManager.
- Go to the LUN page.
The operation path varies with user types:
- System user: Click
vStore, select the desired vStore, and click Details to go to the vStore view. Choose .
- vStore user: In the vStore view, choose .
- System user: Click
- Click Create.
The Create LUN Group dialog box is displayed.

- The name can contain only letters, digits, periods (.), underscores (_), and hyphens (-).
- The name contains 1 to 31 characters.

- Select the LUNs or snapshots you want to add to the LUN group.
- In the Available LUNs or Available Snapshots area, select one or multiple LUNs or snapshots based on your service need.
By default, the Show only the LUNs that do not belong to any LUN group check box in the bottom left corner of the dialog box is selected to facilitate LUN locating.
- Click
to add the LUNs or snapshots to the Selected LUNs or Selected Snapshots area.
- In the Available LUNs or Available Snapshots area, select one or multiple LUNs or snapshots based on your service need.
- Confirm the creation of the LUN group.
- Click OK.
The Execution Result dialog box is displayed, indicating that the operation succeeded.
- Click Close.
- Click OK.
