Adding a Remote Replication Pair

Adding a Remote Replication Pair

By performing this operation, you can add a remote replication pair to a consistency group. This ensures that the data of the secondary resource in the added pair is consistent with that of secondary resources in other pairs of the group at the same point in time.

Prerequisites

  • The Replication Mode of remote replication pairs to be added to a consistency group must be the same as the Replication Mode of the consistency group.
  • A remote replication pair can be added only when the Role of the consistency group is Primary.
  • The Role of remote replication pairs to be added to a consistency group must be Primary.
  • The number of remote replication pairs in a consistency group does not reach the upper limit.

Precautions

  • If a consistency group is in split status, when a remote replication pair is added, the system will split the remote replication pair first and then add it into the consistency group.
  • If a consistency group is not in split status, when a remote replication pair is added, the system will split the consistency group first, split the remote replication pair and add it into the group, and then synchronize the consistency group.
  • After a remote replication pair has been added to a consistency group, the remote replication pair will function according to the replication properties of the consistency group (the properties are Recovery Policy, Speed, Link Compression, Synchronization Method, and Interval), and is not relevant to the properties of the remote replication pair itself.

Procedure

  1. Log in to DeviceManager.
  2. Choose Data Protection > Remote Replication > Remote Replication Consistency Group.
  3. Right-click a consistency group to which you want to add a remote replication pair and choose Add Remote Replication Pair

The Add Remote Replication Pair dialog box is displayed.

  4. From the Available Remote Replication Pairs list, select one or multiple remote replication pairs and click .
  5. Click OK.

The Execution Result dialog box is displayed, indicating that the operation succeeded.

  6. Click Close.
