It describes the working principle and application scenarios of the HyperReplication feature (for block). Also, it explains how to configure and manage the feature.

Modifying Remote Device Information

Modifying Remote Device Information

By performing this operation, you can modify the information of a remote device used for remote replication.

Procedure

  1. Log in to DeviceManager.
  2. Choose Data Protection > Remote Device.
  3. Select a remote device and click Properties.

    The Properties of Remote Device dialog box is displayed.

  4. Modify information of the remote device.

    1. Modify the authentication information, and enter the username and password of the remote device.

      Table 3-37 describes related parameters.

      Username

      Username used for authentication of communication between remote devices.

      • If remote devices are OceanStor 18000 series V100R001C20, T series V200R002C20, or OceanStor V3 series V300R001C10 or later, you need to use the machine-machine account for authentication.
      • If remote devices are OceanStor 18000 series V100R001C10, T series V200R002C10, or OceanStor V3 series V300R001C00 or earlier, you need to use the super administrator or administrator account on an earlier version of a remote device for authentication.

      • The default username of the machine-machine account is mm_user.
      • Obtain the super administrator or administrator account on the remote device.

      Password

      Password used for authentication of communication between remote devices.

      • If remote devices are OceanStor 18000 series V100R001C20, T series V200R002C20, or OceanStor V3 series V300R001C10 or later, you need to use the machine-machine account for authentication.
      • If remote devices are OceanStor 18000 series V100R001C10, T series V200R002C10, or OceanStor V3 series V300R001C00 or earlier, you need to use the super administrator or administrator account on an earlier version of a remote device for authentication.

      • The default password of the machine-machine account is mm_user@storage.
      NOTE:

      You are advised to change your login password periodically in the future by executing the change mm_user password command. This reduces the password leakage risks. For details about how to use the command, see the Command Reference of the corresponding product model.

      • The password of the super administrator or administrator account is consistent with the password on the remote device.
    2. Modify the data compression policy.

      Table 3-38 describes related parameters.

      Data compression algorithms of local and remote devices.

      NOTE:

      Once the parameter is configured, the local device compares the configured compression algorithm with that of the remote device. If the remote device supports the algorithm, then the match is successful. The Compression Status displays as Valid and the data compression is available for replication link. If the remote device does not support the algorithm, then the match is not successful. The Compression Status displays as Invalid. The data compression is not available for the replication link.

      The value can be Fast (high performance) or Deep (high compression ratio).

      • Fast (High Performance): priority to ensure the performance.
      • Deep (high compression ratio): priority to ensure the compression ratio.

    3. Click OK.

      The Success dialog box is displayed, indicating that the operation succeeded.

    4. Click OK.
