Performing a Primary/Secondary Switchover for a Consistency Group

Performing a Primary/Secondary Switchover for a Consistency Group

By performing this operation, you can switch over the primary LUNs and the secondary LUNs in a consistency group. When the primary LUNs in a consistency group fail, you can initiate a primary/secondary switchover to enable the secondary LUNs to become the new primary LUNs, taking over services from the original primary LUNs to ensure service continuity.

Prerequisites

Based on Running Status of a consistency group and Secondary Resource Data Status of the remote replication pairs added to the consistency group, determine whether a primary/secondary switchover can be performed for the consistency group, as shown in Table 3-30.

Procedure

  1. Log in to DeviceManager.
  2. Choose Data Protection > Remote Replication > Remote Replication Consistency Group.
  3. Right-click the desired consistency group and choose Primary/Secondary Switchover.

The security alert dialog box is displayed.

  4. Confirm the primary/secondary switchover operation.

    1. Carefully read the contents of the dialog box, and click OK for confirmation.

The Success dialog box is displayed, indicating that the operation succeeded.

    2. Click OK to complete the primary/secondary switchover.
