Splitting LUN Clone Pairs Consistently

You can obtain copies of multiple primary LUNs at the same split point in time. Splitting pairs in batches is time-efficient and protects the data correlation among copies in relational data applications such as a database.

Prerequisites

Check whether the Running Status and Data Status of the clone pairs meet requirements. Table 2-16 describes the status requirements.

Precautions

A controller reset that occurs during the consistent splitting may cause a failure to split some pairs.

Procedure

  1. Log in to DeviceManager.
  2. Choose Data Protection > Clone.
  3. On the Clone page, click Consistency Splitting.

    The Consistency Splitting dialog box is displayed.

  4. Split clone pairs consistently.

    1. In the Available Clone Pairs area, select the clone pairs to be split.
      NOTE:

      If a primary LUN has multiple secondary LUNs, specify the secondary LUN that you want to split. You can select one from the Secondary LUN Name drop-down list.

    2. Click .

      The clone pairs are moved to the Selected Clone Pairs area.

    3. Click OK.

      The Caution dialog box is displayed. Read the information of the dialog box and ensure that you understand the consequences associated with performing this operation.

      NOTE:

      If one clone contains multiple clone pairs, only one pair can be split.

    4. Click OK.

      The Success dialog box is displayed.

    5. Click OK. Consistent splitting is complete.
