Synchronizing a LUN Clone Pair Reversely

This operation enables you to synchronize data from a secondary LUN to the primary LUN of a clone in the scenario where the data on the primary LUN is corrupted.

Prerequisites

Check whether the Running Status and Data Status of the clone pair meet requirements for reverse clone synchronization. Table 3-13 describes the status requirements.

Context

Only administrators and super administrators are allowed to synchronize a LUN clone reversely.

Precautions

  • As soon as a reverse synchronization starts, other pairs in the same clone are automatically split so that you can verify the correctness of data restored to the primary LUN before propagating the restored data onto other secondary LUNs.
  • After the reverse synchronization is complete, the used pair splits automatically.
  • To avoid data inconsistency, you are advised to pause the services on the primary LUN before starting the reverse synchronization. After the reverse synchronization is complete, you can resume the primary LUN services.

Procedure

  1. Log in to DeviceManager.
  2. Click vStore, select the desired vStore, and click Details to go to the vStore view. Choose Data Protection > Clone > LUN.

    The page for operating clone LUNs in the vStore is displayed.

  3. Choose the desired clone and choose More > Reversely Synchronize.

    The Reversely Synchronize dialog box is displayed.

  4. Select the secondary LUN that you want to use for reverse synchronization and click OK.

    The security alert dialog box is displayed.

  5. Confirm that you want to perform the reverse synchronization.

    1. Read the contents of the security alert dialog box carefully. Then click the check box next to the statement I have read and understand the consequences associated with performing this operation to confirm the information.
    2. Click OK.

      The Execution Result dialog box is displayed, indicating that the operation succeeded.

    3. Click Close. The clone management page is displayed.
