Synchronizing a LUN Clone Pair

This operation enables you to synchronize data from the primary LUN to the secondary LUN in a clone pair whose Running Status is Split. After a LUN clone pair is synchronized, the storage system synchronizes only the different data from the primary LUN to the secondary LUN, greatly improving synchronization efficiency.

Prerequisites

Check whether the Running Status and Data Status of the clone pair meet requirements for synchronization. Table 2-14 describes the status requirements.

Precautions

After the data on the primary LUN that is mapped to a Windows host and running a file system is synchronized to a secondary LUN, the secondary LUN cannot be mapped to the same Windows host.

Procedure

  1. Log in to DeviceManager.
  2. Choose Data Protection > Clone.
  3. Select the desired clone and choose More > Synchronize on the menu bar.

    The Synchronize dialog box is displayed.

    NOTE:

    You can also right-click the desired clone, and choose Synchronize.

  4. Select the secondary LUNs to which you want to synchronize data and click OK.

    The security alert dialog box is displayed.

  5. Confirm that you want to synchronize data to the selected secondary LUNs.

    1. Read the contents of the security alert dialog box carefully. Then click the check box next to the statement I have read and understand the consequences associated with performing this operation to confirm the information.
    2. Click OK.

      The Execution Result dialog box is displayed, indicating that the operation succeeded.

    3. Click Close.

      The clone management page is displayed.
