Verifying the Configuration

Verifying the Configuration

After a LUN clone is created, view data on the secondary LUN to verify whether the clone is successfully configured.

Prerequisites

  • The connection between the storage system and the application server is normal.
  • The primary LUN of the HyperClone pair has been mapped to the application server and a file system has been established.
  • The initial synchronization has been completed.

Procedure

  1. Write file test_1.txt to the file system established on the primary LUN.
  2. Split the HyperClone pair. For details, see Splitting a LUN Clone Pair.
  3. Map the secondary LUN to the application server and check whether the file system established on the secondary LUN contains file test_1.txt.

    • If yes, data is successfully replicated.

      Go to 4.

    • If no, the HyperClone pair fails to be configured.

Log in to DeviceManager. Remove the host mapping of the secondary LUN. Manually perform a synchronization. For details, see Synchronizing a LUN Clone Pair. Then, perform Step 2 and Step 3 again after the manual synchronization is complete.

  4. Log in to DeviceManager and remove the host mapping of the secondary LUN.
  5. Manually perform a synchronization. For details, see Synchronizing a LUN Clone Pair. During the synchronization, write file test_2.txt to the file system established on the primary LUN.
  6. Split the HyperClone pair again after the synchronization.
  7. Write file test_3.txt to the file system established on the primary LUN after the split.
  8. Map the secondary LUN to the application server and check whether the file system established on the secondary LUN contains file test_2.txt.

    • If yes, data written during the synchronization is successfully replicated.

      Go to 9.

    • If no, the HyperClone pair fails to be configured.

On DeviceManager, check whether there are alarms related to the HyperClone pair.

      • If yes, handle the alarms, delete files test_2.txt and test_3.txt, and repeat Step 5 to Step 8.
      • If no, contact technical support engineers.

  9. Log in to DeviceManager and remove the host mapping of the secondary LUN.
  10. Synchronize the HyperClone pair reversely. For details, see Synchronizing a LUN Clone Pair Reversely.
  11. On the application server, view data on the file system established on the primary LUN.

    • If on the primary LUN, only files test_1.txt and test_2.txt are found, the reverse synchronization is successful. The primary LUN has been restored to the time point of the splitting. The HyperClone configuration has passed the verification.
    • If file test_3.txt still exists, the reverse synchronization fails.

On DeviceManager, check whether there are alarms related to the HyperClone pair.

      • If yes, handle the alarms and repeat Step 10 to Step 11.
      • If no, contact technical support engineers.
