Synchronizing Multiple Clone Pairs Consistently
Consistent synchronization of LUN clone allows data on the primary LUNs of multiple clone pairs to be synchronized to the secondary LUNs at the same time.
Prerequisites
LUNs are in the normal state.
HyperClone pairs are in the Normal or Stop state.
Assume that the secondary LUNs of immediately available clones have consistency requirements. If the running status of all pairs is Normal, you must start consistent synchronization for all secondary LUNs to ensure that their data is consistent in time. If the pairs are in other running states, you must stop the pairs and start consistent synchronization for all secondary LUNs to ensure that their data is consistent in time.
Precautions
- After the data on the primary LUN that is mapped to a Windows host and running a file system is synchronized to a secondary LUN, the secondary LUN cannot be mapped to the same Windows host.
- Non-immediately available clone does not support consistent synchronization.
Procedure
- Log in to DeviceManager.
- Choose
Data Protection >
Clone.
- On the Clone page, click Consistency Synchronize.
The Consistency Synchronize dialog box is displayed.
- Consistently synchronize HyperClone pairs.
- In the Available Clone Pairs area, select the clone pairs to be synchronized.
If the primary LUN has multiple secondary LUNs, select secondary LUNs from the Secondary LUN Name drop-down list box.
- Click
.
Add clone pairs to the Selected Clone Pairs area.
- Click OK.
The Caution dialog box is displayed. Carefully read information in the dialog box and understand the consequences associated with performing this operation.
If a clone has multiple clone pairs, only one pair in the clone can be synchronized.
- Click OK.
The Success dialog box is displayed.
- Click OK.
- In the Available Clone Pairs area, select the clone pairs to be synchronized.
