This document is applicable to OceanStor 5110 V5, 5300 V5, 5500 V5, 5600 V5, 5800 V5, 6800 V5, 5300F V5, 5500F V5, 5600F V5, 5800F V5, 6800F V5, 18500 V5, 18800 V5, 18500F V5, and 18800F V5. It describes the basic storage services and explains how to configure and manage them.

Managing Routes

If data needs to be transmitted across network segments in an iSCSI network, routes must be configured. This operation guides you to configure routes.


An Ethernet port has been assigned an IP address.

If redundant links are used, you must configure IP addresses and routes for multiple Ethernet ports.


  • The IP addresses of an Ethernet port and internal heartbeat must be on different network segments.

    The default IP addresses of internal heartbeat on a dual-controller storage system are and, and those of internal heartbeat on a four-controller storage system are,,, and

  • Internal heartbeat links are established between controllers for the controllers to detect each other's working status. Heartbeat links do not require separate cable connections. Internal heartbeat IP addresses have been assigned before delivery and cannot be changed.


  1. Log in to DeviceManager.
  2. Choose System.
  3. Click the controller enclosure where the Ethernet port resides.
  4. Click to switch to the rear view.
  5. Click the Ethernet port that you want to configure.
  6. Click Route Management.

    The Route Management dialog box is displayed.

  7. Set route information for the Ethernet port.

    1. In IP Address, select the IP address of the Ethernet port.
    2. Click Add.

      The Add Route dialog box is displayed.

    3. Select the type of the route to be added from Type and set the other route parameters.
      Table 7-1 describes the related parameters.

      There are three route options:

      • Default route

        A route through which data is forwarded by default if no preferred route is available. The destination address and destination mask (IPv4) or prefix (IPv6) of the default route are automatically set to 0. To use this option, you only need to add a gateway.

      • Host route

        A route to a host. The destination mask (IPv4) or prefix (IPv6) of the host route is automatically set to or 128. To use this option, you only need to add the destination address and a gateway.

      • Network segment route

        A route to a network segment. To use this option, you need to add the destination address, the destination address mask (IPv4) or prefix (IPv6), and gateway.

      Destination address

      IPv4 address, IPv6 address, or network segment of the destination service network port on the application server or destination Ethernet port on another storage system.

      Destination mask/Prefix

      Subnet mask of the IPv4 address or prefix of the IPv6 address for the destination service network port on the application server or destination Ethernet port on another storage system.


      Gateway where the local Ethernet port's IP address resides.


      The IP address of the gateway must not be the same as internal heartbeat IP addresses. Otherwise, routing will fail.

  8. Confirm the route management operation.

    1. Click OK.

      The security alert dialog box is displayed.

    2. Confirm the information in the dialog box and select I have read and understand the consequences associated with performing this operation.
    3. Click OK.

      The Success dialog box is displayed, indicating that the operation succeeded.

      To delete a route, select the route and click Remove.

    4. Click Close.
