OceanStor 5000, 5000F, 6000, and 6000F V5 Series V500R007

This document is applicable to OceanStor 5110 V5, 5110F V5, 5300 V5, 5300F V5, 5500 V5, 5500F V5, 5600 V5, 5600F V5, 5800 V5, 5800F V5, 6800 V5, and 6800F V5 storage systems. It describes hardware installation of those storage systems for helping you easily and quickly finish the installation.

Checking Tools and Auxiliary Materials

Before installing the storage system, ensure that necessary installation support materials, including auxiliary tools, software, meters, and documents, are available. This helps ensure a correct and smooth installation.

Installation Tools

Table 4-1 lists the tools required during the installation.

Phillips screwdriver (M3 to M6)

Fastens small screws. The Phillips screwdriver has a cross-shaped head.

Flat-head screwdriver (M3 to M6)

Fastens small screws. The flat-head screwdriver has a line-shaped head.

Diagonal pliers

Cuts the insulation and cable ties.

Crimp pliers

Crimps the metallic band when making coaxial cables.

Box cutter

Cuts packing tapes on boxes.

Floating nut mounting bar

Assembles and disassembles floating nuts.

ESD clothes

Prevents static electricity.

ESD gloves

Prevents static electricity.

ESD wrist strap

Prevents static electricity.

How to Obtain

SSH software

Logs in to a storage system and transfers files between the maintenance terminal and the storage system.

This document uses PuTTY as an example. You can download PuTTY from the chiark website. You are advised to use the latest version of PuTTY. Otherwise, you may fail to log in to the storage system.



SmartKit (formerly named OceanStor Toolkit, which is used as an example in this document) is a software tool for deployment, maintenance, and upgrade of storage systems. It provides service configuration functions for multiple storage products, including upgrade assessment, inspection, warranty extension check, information collection, patch installation, and batch upgrade.

Adds controllers.

To obtain the tool, access and search for SmartKit. Then download the desired tool and its documentation.


The required documents include:

  • Contract/agreement, device configuration list, equipment room design, and construction blueprint (customer-supplied).
