This document is applicable to OceanStor 5110 V5, 5110F V5, 5300 V5, 5300F V5, 5500 V5, 5500F V5, 5600 V5, 5600F V5, 5800 V5, 5800F V5, 6800 V5, and 6800F V5 storage systems. It describes hardware installation of those storage systems for helping you easily and quickly finish the installation.

Installing Floating Nuts

Installing Floating Nuts

Floating nuts provide screw holes for the M6 screws that are used to secure the devices. Correctly installing floating nuts helps secure devices in the cabinet. Floating nuts are not required for 2 U, 3 U, or 4 U devices and can be directly installed on the adjustable guide rails with screws. If you are installing 2 U, 3 U, or 4 U devices, skip this section.

Prerequisites

Before installing floating nuts, determine the installation positions of the devices in the cabinet.

The required installation tools and materials include:

  • Floating nuts
  • Floating nut mounting bar
  • (Optional) Flat-head screwdriver

Context

The adjustable guide rail has screw holes that are used to secure devices. Floating nuts are not required for 2 U, 3 U, or 4 U devices and can be directly installed on the adjustable guide rails with screws.

NOTE:

Floating nuts should be installed inside the cabinet.

Procedure

  1. Insert one foot of the floating nut into the square hole in the position of upper location identifier to lock the square hole, as shown in step 1 of Figure 5-69.
  2. Pull the other foot of the floating nut by using the floating nut mounting bar to lock the square hole, as shown in step 2 of Figure 5-69.
  3. Check the installation status of the floating nut, as shown in step 3 of Figure 5-69.

    NOTE:
    • Floating nuts should be installed inside the cabinet.
    • If a floating nut mounting bar is unavailable, a flat-head screwdriver may be used instead. When using a flat head screwdriver to install floating nuts, work gently to prevent injuring hands or storage devices.

  4. Repeat 1 and 3 to install other floating nuts.
