Network Allocation Plan

Network Allocation Plan

Before installing devices, the network administrator must plan the IP addresses and network parameters.

Data Plan

Table 2-4 and Table 2-5 list the default network configurations and login information, which can be used to log in to DeviceManager and initially configure the storage system.

Table 2-4 Default IP addresses and subnet masks of the management network ports

Default IPv4 Address

Default Subnet Mask

Controller A: 192.168.128.101

255.255.0.0

Controller B: 192.168.128.102

255.255.0.0

NOTE:
  • The IP address of the management network port is obtained through BMC arbitration. The controller obtains the IP address from the BMC.
  • If a 6 U controller enclosure is equipped with four controllers, only two of the controllers will be assigned IP addresses. The two IP addresses are those of the management network ports on management modules 0 and 1.
  • This storage system is configured with IPv4 addresses by default. If IPv6 addresses are required, you need to manually configure the management network ports with IPv6 addresses.
  • Do not configure the IPv4 addresses of the management network ports within the same network segment as the internal heartbeat IP addresses. The default internal heartbeat IP addresses are 127.127.127.10 and 127.127.127.11 for a dual-controller storage system and are 127.127.127.10, 127.127.127.11, 127.127.127.12, and 127.127.127.13 for a four-controller storage system. Internal heartbeat links are established between controllers for these controllers to detect each other's working status. You do not need to separately connect cables. In addition, internal heartbeat IP addresses have been assigned before delivery, and you cannot change these IP addresses.
  • When you configure Thales keyAuthority key management servers for the storage system, ensure that the service ports of the key management servers communicate with the management ports of the controllers. You are advised to configure the IP addresses of the management ports of key management servers and those of the service ports of key management servers in different network segments.
  • When you configure SafeNet KeySecure key management servers, plan the IP addresses of key management server clusters in advance to ensure proper network connections among them.
  • Key management servers support IPv4 addresses only. To ensure that the storage system communicates with the key management servers properly, configure IPv4 addresses for both the storage system and the key management servers.

Before initially configuring the storage system, you need to plan the IP addresses and network parameters together with your network administrator. Note these IP addresses and network parameters in the following sheets to facilitate initial configuration.

Table 2-6 and Table 2-7 are planning sheets of the IP addresses of the management network ports.

NOTE:
  • For OceanStor 5000 and 5000F series storage systems, if a controller is added, an IP address and related network parameters must be planned.
  • For OceanStor 6000 and 6000F series storage systems, if two controllers are added, an IP address and related network parameters must be planned.
