OceanStor 5000, 5000F, 6000, and 6000F V5 Series V500R007

This document is applicable to OceanStor 5110 V5, 5110F V5, 5300 V5, 5300F V5, 5500 V5, 5500F V5, 5600 V5, 5600F V5, 5800 V5, 5800F V5, 6800 V5, and 6800F V5 storage systems. It describes hardware installation of those storage systems for helping you easily and quickly finish the installation.

Connecting Ground Cables

Devices installed in the cabinet should be grounded to prevent damage caused by ESD or unexpected creepage.


The required installation tools and materials include:

  • Ground cable
  • M3 to M6 Phillips screwdriver
  • M5 screw
  • Diagonal pliers


  • When AC power is supplied, 2 U controller enclosures and 2 U and 4 U disk enclosures do not need to be grounded. When DC power is supplied, the disk and controller enclosures need to be grounded.
    • For OceanStor 5000 and 5000F series storage systems, only OceanStor 5110 V5 does not support DC power supplies.
    • For OceanStor 6000 and 6000F series storage systems, only OceanStor 5110F V5 supports DC power supplies.
  • The 3 U and 6 U controller enclosures and high-density disk enclosures need to be grounded.
  • Figure 6-1 shows the ground cable positions of the high-density disk enclosures. The ground cables of the high-density disk enclosures are connected in the same way as the ground cables of 3 U and 6 U controller enclosures.

  1. Unfasten the ground screws next to the power module with a Phillips screwdriver.
  2. Place one OT terminal onto the ground piece of the controller enclosure, and secure the OT terminal using the same screw that has been removed previously from the controller enclosure, as shown in Figure 6-2, Figure 6-3, and Figure 6-4.

  3. Repeat Step 1 to Step 2 to connect the other OT terminal of the ground cable to the ground terminal on the cabinet.
  4. Route ground cables.
