Checking a Third-Party Cabinet

Checking a Third-Party Cabinet

If you are installing a device in a third-party cabinet, check the cabinet first to ensure that it meets the conditions for installing devices.

Before installing hardware, a third-party cabinet provided by a customer must be checked both by the customer and by a Huawei hardware installation engineer to ensure that it meets the requirements for installing and operating devices. Table A-1 and Table A-2 list the check items.

Table A-1 Check items for a third-party cabinet (for ordinary disk enclosure)

Category

Check Item

Condition

Remarks

Ground bearing of the equipment room

Is the cabinet empty?

Select

□Yes □No

A third-party cabinet must be empty to ensure that:

  • The cabinet has the capacity expansion capability.
  • OceanStor storage systems do not interfere mutually with other devices in terms of cables, heat, electricity, and ground while providing high maintainability and reliability.
  • If a third-party cabinet is not empty, the following-up capacity expansion and installation will be affected.

Is the depth (L) at least 1000 mm? Refer to Figure A-2.

Select

□Yes □No

N/A

Does the cabinet have adequate space for installing the enclosure?

Select

□Yes □No

Check whether the cabinet has adequate space depending on the product configuration.

What is the shape of the holes on the mounting bar?

Select

□ Square hole (side length ≥ 9.5 mm x 9.5 mm)

N/A

Is the distance between the front and rear mounting bars (L2) ranges from 600 mm to 900 mm and is the surrounding about 475 mm within the installation scope of the guide rail free of any obstacles? Refer to Figure A-2.

Select

□Yes □No

If no, you cannot install the storage guide rail on the cabinet.

If a third-party cabinet has guide rails or trays, skip this item.

Do the guide rails delivered with the third-party cabinet meet the load-bearing requirements?

Select

□Yes □No

A 6 U controller enclosure can support 100 kg.

Is the distance between the front mounting bar and the rear door (L3) at least 850 mm? Refer to Figure A-2.

Select

□Yes □No

If no, cables behind the storage device will be too close to the rear door of the cabinet and may fail to be installed.

Is the distance between the front mounting bar and interior side of the front door (L1) at least 50 mm? Refer to Figure A-2.

Select

□Yes □No

If no, the storage device will be too close to the front door. Therefore, the front door cannot be closed.

Is the angle of the door when open at least 120º?

Select

□Yes □No

A small angle hinders the loading, unloading, and maintaining of devices.

Cabinet power system

What is the AC power nominal voltage (V)?

Select

□ 220 V AC

□ 110 V AC

The server supports both 110 V AC and 220 V AC.

The cabinet requires two power supplies to ensure the 1+1 backup.

Select

□Yes □No

N/A

The power supply capability of the cabinet meets the requirements.

Select

□Yes □No

N/A

The connector of the PDU power cable plug faces backwards.

Select

□Yes □No

If the connector of the PDU power cable faces the side, the FRUs cannot be removed and inserted.

The number of power sockets for each power supply in each cabinet is sufficient (C13 specifications).

Select

□Yes □No

The number of power sockets required by each device is as follows:

6 U controller enclosure: 4

2 U disk and controller integration, 3 U controller enclosure, 2 U disk enclosure, and 4 U disk enclosure: 2

What is the power socket type?

Select

□ IEC standards

C13

The power port of the storage device is C14. The C13 port must be provided inside the cabinet. If not, replace the PDU onsite.

Is there a ground point?

Select

□Yes □No

For DC models, ground points must be reserved in the cabinet for device grounding. One ground point is required for the 3 U controller enclosure and 6 U controller enclosure. 2 U disk and controller integration, 2 U disk enclosure, and 4 U disk enclosure require two ground points. A high-density disk enclosure requires one ground point.

Table A-2 Check items for a third-party cabinet (for high-density enclosures)
