OceanStor 5000, 5000F, 6000, and 6000F V5 Series V500R007

This document is applicable to OceanStor 5110 V5, 5110F V5, 5300 V5, 5300F V5, 5500 V5, 5500F V5, 5600 V5, 5600F V5, 5800 V5, 5800F V5, 6800 V5, and 6800F V5 storage systems. It describes hardware installation of those storage systems for helping you easily and quickly finish the installation.

Enabling SM Notification

Enabling SM Notification

This allows specified-severity alarm and event information to be sent to specified mobile phone numbers, helping engineers troubleshoot faults.


  • You have logged in to DeviceManager as one of the following administrators who have the operation permission:
    • Super administrator
    • Administrator
  • A GSM modem has been installed on the system or maintenance terminal. The COM port of the GSM modem has been configured to send SMs.
  • A storage system has been configured to send only the alarms and events generated after the SM notification is configured, but not alarms or events generated before the configuration.


The SM notification function is not available to read-only users.


  1. Log in to DeviceManager.
  2. Choose Settings > Alarm Settings > SM Notification.
  3. Set a mobile phone number to receive short messages.

    1. Select Enable.
    2. Set a phone number for the SM service center.

      The phone number must be in the following format: plus sign+country code+11 digit phone number of your local SM service center.

    3. Add the phone number.
      1. Click Add.

        The Add Recipient Information dialog box is displayed.

      2. (For V500R007C20 and earlier) Add the phone number and specify the alarm and event severities.
      3. (For V500R007C30) Specify Recipient Phone Number and Notification Type.
        • If you select Alarm in Notification Type, you must also specify Alarm Severity, which can be Critical, Major, or Warning.
        • You can enable or disable the notification of specific events. For details, see "Managing Event Notification" in the OceanStor V5 Series V500R007 Administrator Guide.
      4. Click OK.

  4. (Optional) Click Test to test whether the storage system has sent notification.
  5. Click Save.

    The Execution Result dialog box is displayed.

  6. Click Close.
